Manifest and Romans 8:28

Last night, like many, I watched Manifest to see what it was, and as was intended, I noticed its theme taken from Romans 8:28 "All things work together for good."  Later it focused upon a section of that verse which I wondered if they would deal with. That section states: "To them which are the called according to his purpose."  Makayla, asked the priest, how do you know that you are called, and the priest, not really knowing the answer, gave an incomplete one, "You know it in your heart."
Today, I would like to give the full answer. To start, let us first see the full context starting with verse 28 ending with verse 30:

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

First let us see that the called are also identified as those that love God. Also, following verse 28 we see that Paul identifies who the called are. They are those that God has foreknown to be conformed to the image of his Son, Jesus Christ. And following from there that the called are those that are justified, then glorified (glorified has not yet happened, see romans 8:16-25.) So then how is one justified before God?
I am glad you asked. We see also in Romans (3:26) "To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus." We can see here, how one is to be justified. It is simple, We believe what Jesus Christ has done for us. A few verses earlier, we see that we have a need because,"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God[.]" According to this none of us are able to see heaven by our own merits. In fact all of us deserve Hell, and even worse the Lake of Fire. But we see in Chapter 6, both what we deserve and God's answer to it: "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." For our sins, we deserve death, i.e. the Lake of Fire, but we also see that God has prepared for us a gift through Jesus Christ, Life Eternal! Now, how does one receive that Gift?
First, let us start by how we do not get it. Notice that it is a gift, and if we pay for a gift it is no longer a gift. As we see in Chapter 4, about Abraham,
For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Notice first, the second of these verses, the reward for work is not based upon grace, but debt. That is: that which we receive for what we have done is owned to us. It is not a gift! In the first and last verse, what is needed is declared. We need to believe God, who is the one that "justifieth the ungodly," you and I. How did he do this? And how do we take part?
In Romans 10, we find the answer to these questions:
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

We find here both what God did to justify you and I. First we see that God, Jesus Christ, died, but he did not stay dead, but on the third day rose again from the dead. If we believe this, and that he did it for us (you) we see here that "thou [we] shalt be saved"
And so this is how we can know who The Called are, and how we can be in that group.

To God be the Glory
Scott
